Teen Read Week: YALSA Announces 2009 Teens’ Top Ten Winners
It’s the third week in October, which means it must be Teen Read Week! To celebrate this event, the American Library Association (ALA) and Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) have put together the 2009 Teens’ Top Ten, a list of the most popular books of 2009!
Here is this year’s list, just announced this week:
- Paper Towns by John Green
- Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer
- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
- City of Ashes by Cassandra Clare
- Identical by Ellen Hopkins
- The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman
- Wake by Lisa McMann
- Untamed by P.C. and Kristin Cast
- The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart
- Graceling by Kristin Cashore
Teen Read Week is all about reading for fun and these ten books are a great way to get started. To create this list, over 11,000 teens voted in an online poll between Aug. 24 and Sept. 18. These books are all available for free @ your library, and this is the best week to check them out.
Have you read some of these books already? Perhaps there are some that should be on this list but didn’t make it. Let us know, we would love to hear about it. Leave a comment below, or contact us on either Twitter or Facebook.
