'Studies show that students in schools with strong school library programs learn more, get better grades and score higher on standardized tests.'

So why is the Los Angeles Unified School District considering ‘defunding’ school librarian positions?

The situation has been  covered extensively by the media, including the  Los Angeles Times and Southern California Public Radio.

Read "An open letter to the Los Angeles Unified School District on the defunding of school librarians," a statement about this troubling situation from the American Library Association and the American Association of School Librarians.
