A special on the rising popularity of libraries aired a few months ago on NBC’s The Today Show. In the video, Peter Alexander explains some of the ways that libraries are helping people find jobs, entertain children, and save money. In these tough times, that help is going to mean a lot more than just books and free Internet.
As of June, 68% of Americans carried a library card. In just the last few months, that number is sure to have gone up a lot more (especially with it being National Library Card Sign-Up Month). However, Peter notes that libraries are also going through some tough times of their own.
