My Priceless Journey
by Yvetta Logan
One of my most favorite places in the whole world is the public library. I love the library because when I enter this majestic building, it seems as though I have stepped into a totally different world. The high cathedral ceiling, walls covered with jewels of knowledge, and the quiet comfortable ambiance of the surroundings.
I go to the book-filled shelves, choose one book or several, sit down in a comfortable chair and begin my priceless journey. I can go all over the world, the universe, the planets, galaxies, explore the seven seas, climb mountains, fly planes and never leave the comfort of my chair or the room. Long before we surfed the Internet, we had the library to take us to all kinds of subjects and places. There we read and learn, relax and read, get excited or dreamy, and go wherever we choose.
I had a library card at the ripe old age of seven. I lived within walking distance of the Hall Branch Library, visited almost every day and was awestruck by Mrs. Charlemae Rollins, the children’s librarian. I found that as a child growing up, my library card was one of the most important school supplies I possessed.
From Adventure to Zoology, the library is the place for me to be , traveling on my priceless journey.
