More Libraries and Librarians Get Creative on YouTube – Watch This Week’s Top 5 Favorites
Two weeks ago, we posted our Top 5 Favorite library-related videos on YouTube. Since then, our readers have sent us some more great YouTube creations. You might be surprised what a large catalog of library and librarian-type content there is on YouTube. The following five videos may vary in production quality, yet are all highly imaginative and somewhat hilarious.
“Libraries Are Gonna Make It After All”

Way back in the time before iPods and Nintendo, there was a little show on television called the Mary Tyler Moore Show. This video uses its popular theme song to encourage people to use the library, as well as show some of the great resources available to you there.
“Alberta’s Libraries, Books and Beyond”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fqpY97S0xU
This is a short and sweet classic from Canada that might require a repeat viewing in order to get the joke. You might say, at the Alberta Library, “One thing leads to another.”
“Pirates at the Research Help Desk”

Who’s that strange guy with the eye patch working in the reference department? If you’ve never heard this question uttered in your local library then maybe you should visit the McMaster University Library in Hamilton, Ontario. Fans of The Hobbit might enjoy this particular video.
“Teen Summer Reading @ Birmingham Public Library (Alabama)”
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWlicnl3HII
If you enjoyed those great black and white videos from our previous YouTube post, then you’re going to love this one. A detective gets a clue that the answer he’s looking for is at the library.
“Beauty is Nothing Without Brains”

You probably never expected a Mercedes-Benz commercial to take place in a library—or, for that matter, to be this funny. This great ad lists three things you cannot find at your local library.
We know there are more fantastic library videos out there and we want you to send them to us. We’re going to start doing these “Libraries and Librarians on YouTube” posts once every two weeks. If you know of one we should check out, feel free to leave a comment below or contact us on either Twitter or Facebook.
