And the Winner of the Creative Essay Contest is…


Leslie Powell-Skinner! Her creative essay “A ‘Cents’ible Resource” won the judges over with its humorous rhythm and rhyme. Powell-Skinner will receive a prize of $350, courtesy of American Library Association.

Tamra Mathias’ “A Life Filled With a Love of Library, Literature and Obviously Alliteration,” garned the most votes and won the People’s Choice Award.

The Creative Essay Contest followed the very popular Design a Tote Bag contest earlier this year. We received submissions from over 20 states and from writers aged 14 to 80!
