in

What do superheroes, rock-climbing, and zombies all have in common? Well, not much except that they’re all the subject of this week’s Best of Libraries on YouTube! Every two weeks we take a look at some of the highly creative videos that libraries and library lovers have uploaded to the Web. Here’s this week’s Top five.

The Adventures of Super Librarian
Posted by circulating

Starting off with a quickie, this is one that could be repurposed for any library in America. Hailing from the McCraken County Public Library in Paducah, Kentucky, the Super Librarian is able to multi-task while still providing customer service that’s, well… super.

Library Limbo

This is the perfect library video for anyone who still misses 1920s cartoon animation. Made as a school project for the Uris Library at Cornell University, this video covers just about every stereotypical library patron you could imagine—and then some.

No Cookies In The Library – Sesame Street
Posted by sawing14s

Since Nov. 10 will be the 40th anniversary of Sesame Street, we thought it might be appropriate to include this classic Cookie Monster sketch. Having been viewed on YouTube over 541,000 times, it features a scuffle between the lovable Monster and the local librarian who attempts to explain what libraries do and do not offer their patrons.

Rapelling in the UK Library
Posted by PeterMEUK

Switching gears, we have a short clip of a group of University of Kentucky students who found a way to break the rules, create a great story, and entertain dozens of people, all without making very much noise. In fact, I doubt you even need a library card to perform this stunt.

Mills Learning Commons Zombie Invasion

Shawn M. sent us this video as a comment on our previous Libraries on YouTube posting. We’ve posted videos by the folks at McMaster University Libraries in Hamilton, Ontario, before, but this one might be the best yet. Late night library hours can be a great thing, especially if you’re known to attract zombies during the day.

That’s it for this week’s Libraries on YouTube blog. Do you know of a great library-related video on YouTube? Let us know by either leaving a comment below of contacting us on either Twitter or Facebook.
