Best of Library Videos on YouTube – Librarian Edition

in

Have you ever thought that perhaps your local librarian possessed supernatural powers? Well, it’s true; librarians are incredibly powerful people, though each one is unique in their own way. Here are some of our favorite YouTube videos of librarians thinking outside the box.

Help Me, Ninja Librarian!

Made by the creative folks of the AIW Library in Arlington, VA, this is one of the funniest library videos we’ve stumbled across in a long time. Presented in a series of still images, watch the facial expressions change on the paper bag-headed protagonist as he learns about library resources.

If you remember the 1989 hit film UHF, made by the one and only “Weird Al” Yankovic, then you’ll surely remember this off-the-wall segment featuring maybe the strongest librarian on Earth. Don’t you know the Dewey Decimal System?

Gorilla Librarian

Here’s another favorite from the archives of pop culture, featuring the legendary cast of Monty Python’s Flying Circus. A local library is trying to hire a new librarian, though it seems they have some rather strange standards for what kind of employees they’re looking for…

The Insulting Librarian

David Mitchell and Robert Webb are the stars of the award-winning British television show Mitchell & Webb, though that doesn’t mean they make the best librarians. In this sketch, a rather rude librarian tries to consult a woman on her poor taste in literature.

Erik the Librarian

The “Erik the Librarian” videos became popular on YouTube in early 2008, but disappeared after only four episodes. This selection, entitled “Is This a Dream, Lucifer?” was the fourth and last of the series and features two aggravated library patrons (one of whom is Mindy Kaling who plays “Kelly” on The Office) trying to deal with two, rather obtuse librarians.

We hope you enjoyed our “Librarian Edition” of the Best of Library Videos on YouTube. We’ll be back in two weeks with more of our favorites. If you know of some hilarious library material on YouTube that we should feature, leave a comment below or contact us on either Twitter or Facebook.
