Advocacy Institute
Looking to improve your advocacy skills? Want to meet fellow library supporters from across the country? Get the tools to become an effective library advocate at the Advocacy Institute. Break-out sessions will focus on budget presentations, crisis communications, and passing bond issues/referenda. Core advocacy skills, such as message development and coalition building, will be covered in the morning. Attendees will leave with an action plan that they can implement in their communities or campuses.
The Advocacy Institute is offered as a one-day preconference at the ALA Annual Conference and Midwinter Meeting. Half-day Advocacy Institutes have taken place at the state level. Contact advocacy@ala.org for additional information.
The Advocacy Institute is coordinated by the Advocacy Training Subcommittee of the ALA Library Advocacy Committee in cooperation with the Association for Library Trustees and Advocates (ALTA), the Chapter Relations Committe, the Committee on Legislation, the Public Awareness Committee, and Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA).
